I have a patient who is prescribed (by another provider) 8 Percocet a day for chronic pain. His urine drug screen, however, is negative for opiates. Also a urine oxycodone level is likewise negative. I suspect diversion but am wondering how sensitive these tests are and how likely are false negatives. How long after use are opiates (and other drugs) typically detected in urine? Thanks.
