Amy, it's not as simple a question or answer as many would believe. Was the result from an immunoassay, on-site quick test or from a GC/MS confirmation test?  Was it from a standard panel or an extended opiates panel? What were the cutoff levels used?  Is the job clerical, labor, regulated, safety sensitive, etc.?  Was the hydrocodone use verifiable as legitimate or was it illicit.  What about the condition (back pain) it was being used to treat and its impact.

A quick guess is that the opiate positive result was probably not from the hydrocodone (even though hydrocodone is a synthetic opiate - usually only natural opiates are included) and hydrocodone is probably not a major concern.  But wait - what was it actually positive for?  Poppy seed bagels, cough syrup, opium?

Basing important decisions on guesses, assumptions and internet postings is not wise considering that expert MRO services can be made a part of your testing program for less than the cost of the collection fees - and certainly less than attorney representation.
