You cannot distinguish the thc from marinol and the thc from smoke on GC/MS.  However, Dr. ElSohley has pointed out that because marijuana smoke contains tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV), the finding of this product on GC/MS will differentiate Marinol from marijuana use. I refer you to The Journal of Analytical Toxicology, Vol. 24, Jan/Feb 2000.
