This is mainly a non regulated DS problem, meaning its "whatever you're willing to defend" to any and all the involved parties. I generally don't accept old Rx more than a year old but readily add remark "outdated prescription not accepted" - it's amazing that that it's almost always the last pill that was taken just before the DS and the bottle (evidence) discarded - I keep an open mind just in case someone presents evidence to sway me otherwise, (e.g. they called their MD who verifiably told them to take an old Rx) - to accept ancient use (10 yo in a previous thread?) use becomes nondefensible as "valid alternative medical explanation" - age 16 last adderal rx and age 26 amphetamine positive negated?? Rarely would physicians medically recommend a patient take an old Rx . . . As another fun twist, on two occasions I've had a donor present an UNFILLED RX (both backdated - one from the boy's [mother's] obstetrician and another on a stolen Rx pad) demanding the result be negated (I check prescriber's story and request the donor present the pharmacy record at that point to "show me when it was filled")
