MROCC certification does not qualify a physician to perform FAA medical exams. Instead, FAA designates physician Aviation Medical Examiners to perform FAA medical exams based on successful completion of a training course and periodic CME. Physicians who want to become Aviation Medical Examiners can inquire at their FAA regional offices. FAA tries to limit the number of AMEs so that each AME maintains a reasonable volume of exams to help ensure proficiency and help FAA maintain quality control over the AMEs.
