Client had a hair test which was positive for methamphetamine (1.2 ng/gm) and amphetamine (1.0 ng/gm). Random urines over past 3 months have been consistently negative. Client says he gives his son Adderall, and may have tested positive by handling those pills. He also says he used Vicks sinus preparations (inc. inhaler) for sinusitus. The lab did not wash the samples. My questions:
1) Is this proportion consistent with methamphetamine use?
2) Can the quantity of drug ingested be inferred?
3) Does the result reasonably suggest exposure to two drugs?
4) Can hand-to-hair contact cause amphetamine absorption?
5) Any other possible explanations?
Thanks
