I agree they remain in the random pool. Our practice has been to update the doctor's letter if they are pulled for a random--to be sure nothing has changed such as a kidney transplant. I still respectfully disagree to make a donor wait 3 hours etc. Also, you would have to consider "encouraging" someone to drink an additional 40 oz of fluid if they are in renal failure. Hopefully the donor would feel comfortable in insisting on not violating the fluid intake as prescribed by their doctor. I happen to be following someone currently who is on dialysis, is subject to Random testing and happens to be in a Follow Up program. Makes for an interesting mix of testing/clinical evaluation. Perhaps this is a good topic for ODAPC to address and give us all clarification.
