MROCC requires that the initial certification exam be completed in a proctored setting. In 2007, MROCC is offering the exam at a number of cities. None of those cities are near you. If you want to take the MROCC exam for the first time and want to do it from a distance, try completing the Initial Certification Application and attach a detailed letter of explanation about why you can't travel. Some kind of note from your treating physician would help, too. Perhaps MROCC will accommodate you by letting you take the course in Los Angeles.
AAMRO also certifies MROs and has over time been more willing to let MROs take the exam at home. I don't know if AAMRO lets you initially certify with its take-home quiz. If you find out, please revisit this web site and post an update.
