For marijuana it is simple. In the screening test, the screening is for ALL cannabinoids as a class. There are many, many cannabinoids. If the screening is over 50, the sample then goes to through GC/MS confirmation. Here the testing is to ONLY look for a metabolite, delta-9-THC. If the delta-9-THC is over 15, then it is reported as positive.
