There are also a couple of Substitute Senate Bills that allow drivers of vehicles between 10,001 pounds and 26,000 pounds, forklift operators and mechanics who repair such vehicles to be randomly tested without receiving the Connecticut Labor Commisioner's permission. Also drivers of vehicles of any size that transport school children can be randomly tested. Also, Connecticut, municipalities, state, and government agencies can randomly test their employees. They can put their drivers in a DOT-regulated random pool without the CT Labor Commisioner's approval. Refer to CT Labor statutes section 31-51-t and Transportation statutes section 14-261B which state any employer who has a driver operating a vehicle in excess of 10,001 lbs can be in a DOT random Program.
