This comes up in my life fairly often. Interview the donor. Inform him/her that the temperature of the specimen presented to the collector was out of range. Ask if the specimen belonged to him/her. If the reply is "yes," proceed with the interview as normal. If the reply is "no," then report out the test as substituted.
