I can't cite research but on a practical basis abusers of the drugs on routine extended panels almost always have at least one legitimate prescription to show for their drug of choice limiting the usefulness of such panels. However, custom panels for common designer drugs [e.g. ecstasy, MDA] could have some real value depending on your community of applicants.
