Hello everyone.

Here are excerpts from an unusual letter I received from a workers compensation adjuster.  This seems to be a job for someone in a forensics department...if for anyone at all.  From my perspective, it's assumed that an injured patient who tested positive for an illicit substance was most likely injured due to use of that substance.

"We note that the patient was drug tested ... and was 'positive for marijuana'. we are attempting to determine the level of the marijuana in the system of the patient at the time of the exam.  We are attempting to determine to what degree the drug would have impaired the ability of the patient to perform his duties ... We would appreciate your commentary as to whether the drug would have been the proximate cause for the resultant injury/accident or if it was one of many contributing factors to the incident.  We would ask that you outline what you anticipate in the future from a medical standpoint."
