I am the MRO for a urine drug screen which is lab-positive for marijuana. The donor is age 16. We have a signed consent from his parent. In trying to reach the donor, his father told me that the donor was in a juvenile detention facility for the next 2 weeks. I assume that I just wait for a 10 day no contact positive, but I wanted some feedback on that issue. The test was done for a treatment facility for compliance monitoring.

In general, I am very wary of drug testing for minors. Even when you have a parental consent on file, the donor contact process sometimes causes you to have to leave a message to reach the donor. It really upsets parents when you are an adult contacting their children by phone and you cannot discuss the reason for your call. How do others handle this delicate situation?

Thanks for your input.
