G Woodall, thank you for the useful information that you sent to me. But, I am a little confused. The drug that your article mentions is diazepam (Valium) and not alprazolam (Xanax). Alprazolam is the substance in question here. I am assuming that you sent me the article because the drugs both have the same effect on motor skills. Do they?
One other question ... are you aware that the drug manufacturers are mounting a campaign to challenge opinions of MRO's in legal prescriptive drug usage? They say that therapeutic doses of these meds will be challenged as being safe for "normal" use? This is why I have a denied applicant coming after me with EEOC charges, claiming that part of his argument with an Independent Medical Examimation will be based on chemical evaluative analysis and effects on motor skills by a major drug manufacturer. How can you fight that kind of money? In light of possible lawsuits against small employers, I will not be doing drug testing in the future that includes use of legal prescription drugs because of the liability. I will revert to doing panel testing for illegal drugs only (cocaine, marijuana, etc.). We need new tort reform to protect the small employer.
Thanks again.
