USCG - Waivers

Post by Dr Jeff » Fri Sep 13, 2019 9:21 am

Testing confirmed negative w/receipt of letter from treating Psychiatrist that Adderall script is valid, and donor actually is greatly benefiting from it. Regs state donor must obtain waiver via USCG. Is it the responsibility of the MRO to confirm that waiver is on file? Or is that up to the donor? I suppose this discussion would have come up during his med exam. Assuming he actually declared it...

Based on my past AF standards experience, it would not be the responsibility of the MRO to manage the medication waiver. The member needs to go to his/her USCG provider and have the waiver processed through the usual waiver channels. It sounds like Psych is already on board, so it shouldn't be a big deal, unless it can't be waived for some operational reasons under USCG regs.
