Morphine positive at 600 ng/mL

Post by shussain » Mon Aug 24, 2020 7:36 pm

I have donor who is positive for morphine in the urine specimen at a level of 600 ng/mL, negative for 6 AM. The donor admits to using phendimetrazine
for wt loss and has a letter from the physician. Also taking blood pressure pill Bystolic and Aldactone. No history of poppyseed bagel ingestion. The donor will be working in a safety-sensitive job.

How do I report?

Thank you for your attention.

The result is negative because the morphine level is attributable to consumption of poppy seeds, even if the donor does not recall having consumed them. The information as posted does not indicate a likely safety or medical qualification concern that would require an alert to the employer.
