Can mephedrone (M-CAT) be picked up by any of the on site tests? Thanks

Image Mephedrome (pictured to the left) is in the class of drugs called amphetamines. Screening tests for amphetamines are mostly selective for methamphetamine (pictured below). Image

You can see that the two substances have a similar chemical structure. I can't find, and can't cite, any specific reference about mephedrone causing positive amphetamines-positive screening results. However, given the similar chemical structures, and given that cross-reactivity on amphetamines screens is a well-known phenomenon, it seems likely that mephedrome use could result in a positive result on amphetamines screens.

On our on site test, we have a specific test for amphetamine and a separate test for methamphetamine. So maybe mephedrone would react with the amphetamine assay, only. Supposedly on our on site tests, drugs like Adderal will only react with the amphetamine assay, not the methamphetamine assay.
