Effective January 13, 2017, the DEA established "marijuana extract" as a separate, Schedule I controlled substance, code 7350. This DEA rule encompasses CBD as a marijuana extract.
Because CBD is a Schedule I drug, the use of a CBD-containing product is disqualifying from driving a commercial motor vehicle per regulation that prohibits the use of Schedule I drugs.
With CBD-containing products so prevalent, employers may want to warn truck drivers not to use them. Ironically, some truck stop websites advertise CBD for sale in their shops.
